Thoughts of You
07.31.04 (10:12 pm) [edit]
I close my eyes and thoughts of you consume me. I see you walking with the desert sun glistening on your hair. I see you sleeping like an angel your dark lashes upon your cheek. I see your smile... Hear the music that is your laughter. I breathe in deeply and I can feel your presence Always embracing me.

No More Nomar
07.31.04 (2:46 pm) [edit]
Arizona held onto Randy Johnson Saturday, but Boston decided to say adios to Nomar Garciaparra. The shortstop is headed to the Cubs as part of a four-team deal – Chicago sent Alex Gonzalez to the Expos, Montreal sent Orlando Cabrera to Boston, Minnesota sent Doug Mientkiewicz to the Red Sox and the Twins received minor leaguers. Has Boston lost their fucking mind???

My mood today? [i]Just fuck it!!![/i] So I offer you these words by his Royal Purple Badness 8)
Dearly beloved .. we are gathered here today to get through this thing called LIFE. electric word "life", it means forever and that's a mighty long time but I'm here to tell you there's something else .. the afterworld a world of never ending happiness you can always see the sun, day or night. so when u call up that shrink in Beverly Hills -- you know the one .. dr. everything'll be alright. `stead of asking him how much of you're time is left ask him how much of you're mind, baby `cause in this life things are much harder than in the afterworld in this life you're on your own ! and if the elevator tries to bring u down go crazy .. punch a higher floor !
If you don't like the world you're living in take a look around you, at least you got friends. I called my old lady for a friendly word she just picked up the phone .. dropped it on the floor "ssss ahh, sss ahh !" is all I heard.
I'm not gonna let the elevator bring us down oh no, let's go .. let's go crazy ! let's get nuts let's look for the purple banana `til they put us in the truck let's go !
all excited, don't know why maybe it's `cause we're all gonna die and when we do, what's it all for? better live now, before the grim reaper comes knocking on your door tell me baby .. are we gonna let the elevator bring us down?
dr. everything'll be alright .. make everything go wrong. pills and thrills and daffodils will kill hang tough children .. he's coming .. he's coming .. he's coming !
[i]And for all of you nosey tblog friends of mine who keep asking what happened with my friend....We srewed eachers brains out...I put him on the airplane and it is no longer a relevant issue. Nuff said. [/i]

As I was watching Lance Armstrong cross the finish line winning for the sixth time, this song began playing on the radio. I think the cosmos istrying to tell me something....
Meant To Live
Fumbling his confidence And wondering why the world has passed him by Hoping that he’s bent for more than arguments And failed attempts to fly, fly
We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? Somewhere we live inside Somewhere we live inside We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? Somewhere we live inside
Dreaming about Providence And whether mice or men have second tries Maybe we’ve been livin with our eyes half open Maybe we’re bent and broken, broken
We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? Somewhere we live inside Somewhere we live inside We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? Somewhere we live inside
We want more than this world’s got to offer We want more than this world’s got to offer We want more than the wars of our fathers And everything inside screams for second life yeah
We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? We were meant to live We were meant to live

A dear friend of mine has been in town visiting for the past week. Its been great to see him...its been about 5 yrs since he's been in the country. We've known each other since college. He has always been kind of like a big brother to me. Always there to lend a big shoulder to cry on when I needed one. Tonite was no excetion to the rule. I was really upset about a situation and we had talked for hours and as usual it ends with me sobbing in his lap...only this time it got a bit wierd. He suddenly just takes my face in his hands and and gives me this really long kiss after which we both jumped back about 10 feet. After some really awkward silence he apologized profusely and we walked back to the car and drove back to my house in dead silence. I'm not sure which one of us was more shocked by his actions! And now what? There is this really awkward "thing" hanging between us. He is here for another 2 days...hope we can iron this out.

Last days
07.22.04 (3:11 pm) [edit]
I got into a group discussion today about what we would do with our day if it was our last day on earth. Hmmm. I pondered this for a few moments. My first thought was get drunk and get laid really good! But thinking more I think I would want to do a bit more than that. I know I would definately want to spend time with all of my friends that I love so dearly...and see the sites I haven't seen yet (like sunset in Bali!!).
What would you do???

what about "bob"
07.21.04 (8:18 am) [edit]
[i]This is for Cyberpal![/i]
Back in the day I gave a shot at internet dating. I had one very good experience...several so-so ones and then there was "BOB".
He seemed normal enough when we chatted online so phone numbers were exchanged and we made the calls. He seemed genuinely interested in gettng to know me and spent hours talking to me. I took this to be a good sign. So, after several weeks of talking I agree to meet him for dinner at 55 on the Boulevard. Dinner reservations were for 7PM. I arrived right on time only to find he hadn't arrived yet. They went ahead and seated me at 7:15 and at 7:30 in he comes..cell phone to ear making life miserable for some colleague. No apology for being late...and wtf? He isn't 6'2! More like 5'10!!! Did he think I might not notice? I'm noticing the too polished suit and tie..the expensive shoes that scream "I am all about how I look"...he launches into the order for dinner without even asking me what I'd like.. conversation: [i]Him:my car...jag..blah blah.. Him:my house..blah balh Him:my golf clubs..blah blah blah Him:going to Rio next month..be a good girl I might take u..blah blah blah yada yada
ME: ............[/i] Meanwhile he is staring down my cleavage and trying to rub my leg with his $600 shoe.
I am so not diggin this scene. I excused myself to the ladies room ...went to my car and drove home. Wonder if he really noticed I left?

Tired of Speaking Sweetly
07.17.04 (10:04 pm) [edit]
This is a work by poet Sufi Hafiz. The sufis often speak of God (Allah) as The Beloved. Enjoy.
TIRED OF SPEAKING SWEETLY
Love wants to reach out and manhandle us, Break all our teacup talk of God.
If you had the courage and Could give the Beloved His choice, some nights, He would just drag you around the room By your hair, Ripping from your grip all those toys in the world That bring you no joy.
Love sometimes gets tired of speaking sweetly And wants to rip to shreds All your erroneous notions of truth
That make you fight within yourself, dear one, And with others,
Causing the world to weep On too many fine days.
God wants to manhandle us, Lock us inside of a tiny room with Himself And practice His dropkick.
The Beloved sometimes wants To do us a great favor:
Hold us upside down And shake all the nonsense out.
But when we hear He is in such a "playful drunken mood" Most everyone I know Quickly packs their bags and hightails it Out of town.
~ Hafiz ~

Weddings...MEH!
07.16.04 (9:17 pm) [edit]
Well today was the day my friend Nidra married her true love...and I being the dutiful friend was doomed to wear the pink dress that made me look like a fucking cupcake! Why is it that the bride feels compelled to choose the most hideous thing on the rack! Picture a strapless fluffy pink ball gown (Cinderella style) and you get the picture. Now I love Nidra dearly, but must I wear something that makes my already large ass look even WIDER?? Pleeeeze!
We did all the girly stuff today...mani's and pedi's and got our hair done. My hair was larger than its ever been in my life!! When that queen got out his teezing comb I knew I was in for it! MEH! 12 hrs later my hair still hasn't moved.
Made it down the aisle without falling off the shoes but Nidra's horny cousin looked down my dress all the way down the aisle...bastard pinched my ass just as we started walking. I wanted to bash him with my bouquet  But I maintained my lady like composer until the reception when he did it again at which point I threaten to tie his balls in a knot. What is it with foriegn men? Sheesh!
The reception was a wild and crazy time! OPEN BAR! Ty Nidra  I quit counting tequilas somewhere around 5..LOL! I figured it was time to come home when Nidra's relatives were starting to look "not so bad"....
So, another friend married..another fugly bridesmaid dress to add to the collection!
*Cheers to Nidra and Hasson*
Weddings..MEH!

the things we do for love
07.15.04 (6:30 am) [edit]
Was just pondering over some of the stupid things in my life I have done in the name of LOVE!
What's the stupidest thing you ever did for love?
[i]Me? haha too many to count but leaving the job with the Opera company and moving across the country to a military base ranks right up there....[/i]

Elusive...
07.15.04 (6:24 am) [edit]
It seems that happiness has always been a bit elusive for me...rather like chasing a butterfly with your eyes closed. I get close, feel its wings brush me, but it flys away before I capture it. On those brief occaisions that it lands in my palm I am terrified to move for fear I will crush it.
I should be estastic these days but find I am rather melancholy. The joy has quickly been replaced by waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Why must happiness always feel like a double edged sword? :?

The Economy of Mercy
07.11.04 (10:37 pm) [edit]
There's just two ways to lose yourself in this life And neither way is safe In my dreams I see visions of the future But today we have today And where will I find You? Where will I find You?
In the economy of mercy I am a poor and begging man In the currency of grace Is where my song begins In the colors of Your goodness In the scars that mark Your skin In the currency of grace Is where my song begins
These carbon shells These fragile dusty frames House canvases of souls We are bruised and broken masterpieces But we did not paint ourselves And where will I find You?
Where was I when the world was made? Where was I?
I'm lost with You here Yes, I'm lost with You near I'm lost with You here You knew my name when the world was made

The day you were born
07.09.04 (2:12 pm) [edit]
Hey!
Let's play with some basic Numerology. Your birth date describes who we are, what we are good at and what our inborn abilities are. It also points to what we have to learn and the challenges we are facing.
To figure out your Birth Number, add all the numbers in the birth date together, like in the example, until there is only one digit. A Birth Number does not prevent you from being anything you want to be, it will just color your choice differently and give you a little insight.
Example: March 20, 1950 3 + 20 + 1950 = 1973 1 + 9 + 7 + 3 = 20 2 + 0 = 2
2 is the Birth Number to read for the birth date in the example.
#1 THE ORIGINATOR #2 THE PEACEMAKER #3 THE LIFE OF THE PARTY #4 THE CONSERVATIVE #5 THE NONCONFORMIST #6 THE ROMANTIC #7 THE INTELLECTUAL #8 THE BIG SHOT #9 THE PERFORMER
1 - THE ORIGINATOR
1's are originals. Coming up with new ideas and executing them is natural. Having things their own way is another trait that gets them as being stubborn and arrogant. 1's are extremely honest and do well to learn some diplomacy skills. They like to take the initiative and are often leaders or bosses, as they like to be the best. Being self employed is definitely helpful for them. Lesson to learn: Others' ideas might be just as good or better and to stay open minded.
Famous 1's: Tom Hanks, Robert Redford, Hulk Hogan, Carol Burnett, Wynona Judd, Nancy Reagan, Raquel Welch.
2 - THE PEACEMAKER
2's are the born diplomats. They are aware of others' needs and moods and often think of others before themselves. Naturally analytical and very intuitive they don't like to be alone. Friendship and companionship is very important and can lead them to be successful in life, but on the other hand they'd rather be alone than in an uncomfortable relationship. Being naturally shy they should learn to boost their self-esteem and express themselves freely and seize the moment and not put things off.
Famous 2's: President Bill Clinton, Madonna, Whoopi Goldberg, Thomas Edison, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
3 - THE LIFE OF THE PARTY
3's are idealists. They are very creative, social, charming, romantic, and easy going. They start many things, but don't always see them through. They like others to be happy and go to great lengths to achieve it. They are very popular and idealistic. They should learn to see the world from a more realistic point of view.
Famous 3's: Alan Alda, Ann Landers, Bill Cosby, Melanie Griffith, Salvador Dali, Jodi Foster
4 - THE CONSERVATIVE
4's are sensible and traditional. They like order and routine. They only act when they fully understand what they are expected to do. They like getting their hands dirty and working hard. They are attracted to the outdoors and feel an affinity with nature. They are prepared to wait and can be stubborn and persistent. They should learn to be more flexible and to be nice to themselves.
Famous 4's: Neil Diamond, Margaret Thatcher, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tina Turner, Paul Hogan, Oprah Winfrey
5 - THE NONCONFORMIST
5's are the explorers. Their natural curiosity, risk taking, and enthusiasm often land them in hot water. They need diversity, and don't like to be stuck in a rut. The whole world is their school and they see a learning possibility in every situation. The questions never stop. They are well advised to look before they take action and make sure they have all the facts before jumping to conclusions
Famous 5's: Abraham Lincoln, Charlotte Bronte, Jessica Walter, Vincent Van Gogh, Bette Midler, Helen Keller and Mark Hamil.
6 - THE ROMANTIC
6's are idealistic and need to feel useful to be happy. A strong family connection is important to them. Their actions influence their decisions. They have a strong urge to take care of others and to help. They are very loyal and make great teachers. They like art or music. They make loyal friends who take the friendship seriously. 6's should learn to differentiate between what they can change and what they cannot.
Famous 6's: Albert Einstein, Jane Seymour, John Denver, Meryl Streep, Christopher Columbus, Goldie Hawn
7 - THE INTELLECTUAL
7's are the searchers. Always probing for hidden information, they find it difficult to accept things at face value. Emotions don't sway their decisions. Questioning everything in life, they don't like to be questioned themselves. They're never off to a fast start, and their motto is slow and steady wins the race. They come across as philosophers and being very knowledgeable, and sometimes as loners. They are technically inclined and make great researchers uncovering information. They like secrets. They live in their own world and should learn what is acceptable and what not in the world at large.
Famous 7's: William Shakespeare, Lucille Ball, Joan Baez, Princess Diana
8 - THE BIG SHOT
8's are the problem solvers. They are professional, blunt and to the point, have good judgment and are decisive. They have grand plans and like to live the good life. They take charge of people. They view people objectively. They let you know in no uncertain terms that they are the boss. They should learn to exude their decisions on their own needs rather than on what others want.
Famous 8's: Edgar Cayce, Barbra Streisand, George Harrison, Jane Fonda, Pablo Picasso, Aretha Franklin, Nostrodamus
9 - THE PERFORMER
9's are natural entertainers. They are very caring and generous, giving away their last dollar to help. With their charm, they have no problem making friends and nobody is a stranger to them. They have so many different personalities that people around them have a hard time understanding them. They are like chameleons, ever changing and lending in. They have tremendous luck, but also can suffer from extremes and mood. To be successful, they need to build a loving foundation
Famous 9's: Gone missing, sorry!
So which are you????

There is a special guy in my life that shall be referred to henceforth as "this guy". He doesn't want to be blogged about, but tough shit!
"This guy" has turned my life upside down. He's put light into the darkness and filled my nights with his laughter. He has a heart as big as the moon and makes me feel like there isn't anything he wouldn't do for me.
So, "this guy" if you're reading this, know that I love having you in my life and you are much loved!

BULL!
07.07.04 (1:07 am) [edit]
Today marks the beginning of that testosterone fest known to many as the running of the bulls...
The fiesta de San Fermin in Pamplona, Spain, held for a week each July since 1591, honors St. Fermin, the city’s first bishop. A curious mixture of religious fervor, around the clock drinking and carousing, and expert bullfighting, each day’s festivities start at 8:00 a. m. with the encierro, the running of the bulls through the narrow barricaded streets of the city. Here locals and tourists prove their courage by running ahead of the 1,400-lb. bulls. Serious injuries, even fatalities, are common, yet the party rages on unabated. Ernest Hemingway popularized the festival--and the notion of "grace under pressure"--in his 1926 novel, “The Sun Also Rises.”
I find this disturbing

Feelin Small...
07.06.04 (4:45 pm) [edit]
I have been feeling really small in the grand scheme of things lately. But nothing can make you feel smaller than going for a job interview. Geez I hate the sitting in the lobby...looking at the other candidates while you size each other up...thinking you should have worn the suit instead of the skirt and blouse...Upon meeting the potential employer I am having a silent panic attack, thinking I am in over my head here!! The interview goes on for 35 painful minutes ending with the cursory "we will make our choice within the next week or so". I leave feeling really inadequate...and very small.

power of a pinky
07.05.04 (10:03 am) [edit]
|
I have been recently made aware that I have a habit of chewing on my pinky when I am resting my head on my hand. I was completely unaware of this until Amine in his frustration begged me to quit doing this while we were talking on webcam. LOL apparently this was having some effect on him  Who would have ever thought there was such power in a pinky??

MAGIC
07.04.04 (10:17 pm) [edit]
|
Every July 4th for a brief 45 minutes I witness pure magic. The skies are filled with vivid hues of blue , red, green and gold. The people of our small town congregate all along Henry St. early in the evening, bringing their coolers and blankets. There is laughter everywhere as children run with sparklers anticipating what is yet to come. When darkness at last arrives the anticipation is palpable. The first burst of color fills the sky and and a hush falls over the area...everyone is looking to the sky. The fireworks begin and for 45 minutes nobody has problems or cares. We are all transformed into children looking at the skies in wonderment and joy. We are part of the magic.

miracle diet
07.04.04 (5:50 am) [edit]
My friend Jen sent this to me today and I laughed my ass off!! :P
THE TODDLER MIRACLE DIET Americans are always on the lookout for a new diet. The trouble with most diets is that you don't get enough to eat (the starvation diet), or you don't get enough variation (the liquid diet) or you go broke (the all-meat diet). Consequently, people tend to cheat on their diets, or quit after 3 days, or go right back to stuffing their faces after it is all over. Is there nothing you can do but give up and tell your friends you have a gland problem? Well, now there's the new Toddler Miracle Diet! Over the years you may have noticed, as I have, that most two-year-olds are trim. It came to me one day over a glass of water and a carrot that perhaps their diet is the reason. After consultation with pediatricians, X-ray technicians, and distraught Moms, I was able to formulate this new diet. It is inexpensive, offering great variety and sufficient quantity. Before embarking on this diet, however, be sure to check with your doctor -- otherwise, you might have to see him afterward. Good luck! DAY ONE Breakfast: One scrambled egg, one piece of toast with grape jelly. Eat 2 bites of egg, using your fingers; dump the rest on the floor. Take 1 bite of toast, then smear the jelly over your face and clothes. Lunch: Four crayons (any color), a handful of potato chips, and a glass of milk (3 sips only, then spill the rest). Dinner: A dry stick, two pennies and a nickel, 4 sips of flat Pepsi. Bedtime snack: Toast a piece of bread and toss it on the kitchen floor. DAY TWO Breakfast: Pick up stale toast from kitchen floor and eat it. Drink half bottle of vanilla extract or one vial of vegetable dye. Lunch: Half a tube of "Pulsating Pink" lipstick and a handful of Purina Dog Chow (any flavor). One ice cube, if desired. Afternoon Snack: Lick an all-day sucker until sticky, take outside, drop in dirt. Retrieve and continue slurping until it is clean again. Then bring inside and drop on the rug. Dinner: A rock or an uncooked bean, which should be thrust up your left nostril. Pour grape Kool-Aid over mashed potatoes; eat with a spoon. DAY THREE Breakfast: Two pancakes with plenty of syrup, eat one with fingers, rub in hair. Glass of milk; drink half, stuff other pancake in glass. After breakfast, pick up yesterday's sucker from rug, lick off fuzz, and put it on the cushion of your best chair. Lunch: Three matches, peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Spit several bites onto the floor. Pour glass of milk on table and slurp up. Dinner: Dish of ice cream, handful of potato chips, some red punch. FINAL DAY Breakfast: A quarter-tube of toothpaste (any flavor), bit of soap, an olive. Pour a glass of milk over bowl of Cornflakes, add a half cup of sugar. Once cereal is soggy, drink milk and feed cereal to dog. Lunch: Eat crumbs off kitchen floor and dining room carpet. Find that sucker and finish eating it. Dinner: A glass of spaghetti and chocolate milk. Leave meatball on plate. Stick of mascara for dessert.

07.02.04 (2:32 pm) [edit]
Hello everyone...I've been on a bit of a "blog vacation this week. Sorry to keep ya waiting, although I can't imagine anyone on pins and needles waiting to read my blog
Have you ever just thought something over so much that you thought your head would burst? I mean really pounding it out...going over the pros and cons...playing out every imaginable scenario...only to still come to no conclusion?
If it weren't a matter of the heart I probably could just let it go.
